Fulham FC vs. Liverpool FC: John Pantsil Own Goal Gives Liverpool Advantage

Liverpool have their goal as Fulham shoot themselves in the foot. Clint Dempsey, not known for his defensive prowess, played an appalling pass that found Fernando Torres in Fulham's area. The striker wiggled out of the clutches of his defender and slung in a shot which David Stockdale would have dealt with easily had it not taken a wicked deflection off Brede Hangeland and hit the post with the goalkeeper scrambled. The bounce was actually quite kind to Fulham, almost landing in Stockdale's hands, but somehow under fairly light pressure from Raul Meireles Stockdale, Chris Baird, and John Pantsil scrambled the ball into their own net from two yards out.

So, Christmas time at Anfield for Liverpool fans as they’re gifted a goal by Fulham, and the home side are looking for more. The visitors aren’t looking at their most confident after their comedy of errors, but they did get a few chances in the first half. At 1-0, the game definitely is not over just yet, although if Liverpool get another it probably will be.
