Arsenal Vs. Ipswich Town, Carling Cup Semifinal: Cesc Fabregas Provides Insurance For Gunners

Whatever realistic doubt we held that Arsenal would confirm their spot in Wembley, it's been squelched by Cesc Fabregas, the Gunners' captain putting his side up 3-1 (aggregate) on visiting Ipswich Town, practically sealing their victory in their Carling Cup semifinal. Ipswich has a hope and pray, but their realistic chances of pulling off a massive upset are now gone. Arsenal will be going to the Carling Cup final.

The confirming goal came in the 77th minute on a counter attack started by Denilson. The Brazilian midfielder con a challenge at the end of his own third and quickly fed the ball toward midfield for Fabregas. The captain found Andrei Arshavin changing into the Ipswich end and overlapped the Russian on this left. At the edge of the area, Arsahvin put Fábregas behind the defense, in on Martón Fulop, who has beating between his legs for Arsenal's third goal.
