Reports early Saturday morning have Michael Bradley, reported by German sources Friday to be on the verge of a move to Turkey, set for a six-month loan to English Premier League side Aston Villa. Though Villa has a number of Americans on their book, the move comes out of relative nowhere, with Bradley's previous England links being to the north east.
Michael Bradley Set For English Premier League, Aston Villa Loan - Report
With Sunderland having signed Stephane Sessegnon and rumored to be on the verge of Sulley Muntari, Bradley seemed to be pushed away from England. Hence, the Turkey rumors, a potential move to Istanbul giving Bradley recourse from potentially diminished playing time with a relegation-embattled club.
Now, if reports come true, Bradley will be moving to Birmingham, a move to a U.S.-friendly club, though only a six-month deal, Bradley could find himself property of a 2. Bundesliga side come June. And as expected, with the step-up in competition will come a greater fight for playing time, with Gèrard Houllier recently crafting Ashley Young, Stewart Downing, Stiliyan Petrov, Nigel Reo-Coker, Jean Makoun and Barry Bannan into central roles.
Bradley has made 19 appearances with Borussia Monchengladbach this season, but recent acquisitions by the struggling club have seen the midfielder’s playing time come into question. With 18 months left on a contract with a club six points short of safety, Bradley’s looks set to move.
