For every five times Kenny Cooper ruins a move by being offside, he scores a goal. Usually its more than five for every one, but this is a big game for the Portland Timbers with a playoff spot on the line so he decided to step his game up. The Timbers' striker was able to get in between a couple defenders and nod home the go-ahead goal for DC in the 24th minute to put the visitors on track to pick up the three points they so desperately need.

The goal came courtesy of a cross from Rodney Wallace, even if it wasn't the smoothest of crosses. Wallace's cross was deflected, but it found its way right to the top of the six-yard box where Brandon McDonald thought it best to watch Cooper slide in and score instead of actually challenging for the ball.
The Timbers can move into a tie with the Red Bulls for 10th place and the final playoff spot with a win, but things would be as bad for DC as they are good for Portland if the Timbers win. Anything except for a win tonight eliminates DC from the playoff race so they better find an extra gear.
