Club America needed a win over Chivas Guadalajara in the 2011 Super Clasico and started the match playing like a team intent on doing so, but things never went well for the Super Aguilas at any point in the match. They trailed after just six minutes and were always playing catch-up from then on, eventually leading to their defeat by a final score of 3-1.
Club America Vs. Chivas Guadalajara Live, 2011 Super Clasico: Final Score, Goats Roll 3-1
Antonio Gallardo scored the opener, heading in a cross by Marco Fabian after just six minutes. ‘Chucho’ Cristian Benitez equalized quickly for America with a header on a Daniel Montenegro free kick in the 13th minute, but that would be the closest America would get to being involved in the game.
Chivas netted twice in 90 seconds in the 18th and 20th minutes, with Marco Fabian and ‘Cubo’ Erick Torres scoring the two goals. Armando Navarrete’s positioning on both goals was terrible, and the America fans will be left longing for the days of ‘Memo’ Guillermo Ochoa in net after this performance. On the other end, Luis Michel made a number of fantastic saves to keep Chivas well in front from the 20th minute on.
Rosinei saw red for America in the 59th minute, and that was all she wrote. America never really looked like they had a chance at coming back in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, but the match more or less ended when they went down to ten men. America now sit six points outside of Liguilla with three rounds remaining, while Chivas are now top of the table.
