German Bundesliga 2011, Week 11: Saturday Morning Recap

FC Bayern Munich vs 1. FC Nürnberg

Bayern put in an absolute dominant performance today in the Bavarian Derby. The match was never in question with Bayern receiving two goals from Mario Gomez and one a piece from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery. Nürnberg never got into the match and only saw 20% of possession. Manuel Neuer was never tested in the Bayern net and picked up his ninth clean sheet in eleven matches. Bayern's goal differential is now an astonishing 30 scored and 3 conceded. Score: FC Bayern Munich 4 - 0 1. FC Nürnberg

FC Schalke 04 vs 1899 Hoffenheim

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored twice in the second half to move Schalke into second place in the Bundesliga. Raul opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Julian Draxler found him in front of net with a nifty move. Vedad Ibisevic brought Hoffenheim level in the 63rd minute. Huntelaar would then score from the penalty spot and then finish a rebound for his 10th goal of the season. Score: FC Schalke 04 3 - 1 1899 Hoffenheim

VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund

Lukasz Piszczek scored just before halftime to give his side a share of the points in Stuttgart. Defender Serdar Tasci got the opening goal in the 22nd minute, and they held on for a deserved draw against the reigning champs. Score: VfB Stuttgart 1 - 1 Borussia Dortmund

VfL Wolfsburg vs Hertha BSC Berlin

Hertha Berlin won all three points in a huge six pointer on the road against Wolfsburg. Less than a minute after Marcel Schäfer finally pulled Wolfsburg level, Berlin’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga found the back of the net to insure his side won all three points. The loss is hugely disappointing for Wolfsburg, who were looking at this match as three necessary points to move them up the table. Score: VfL Wolfsburg 2 - 3 Hertha BSC Berlin

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Hannover 96

Marco Reus found his finishing boots on Saturday, and he led Borussia Mönchengladbach to an important victory that saw them jump all the way up to third. Reus’s early goal was was canceled out within minutes by Emanuel Pogatetz for Hannover. Reus found his second in the 56th minute, and Gladbach held on for the full points. Score: Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 - 1 Hannover 96
