FC Köln Vs. FC Augsburg, 2011 Bundesliga: Podolski Scores Two, Leads Köln To Victory

Lukas Podolski scored two goals in the first half to lead Köln to a 3-0 victory over Augsburg.

Köln has now won their last three home games without conceding a goal. The win also puts them in 11th place on 16 points. The loss keeps Augsburg in the relegation zone and ends their two game unbeaten streak.

Podolski opened the scoring in the 19th minute when he broke down the left flank and unleashed a shot at Simon Jentzsch that the Augsburg goalkeeper couldn’t keep out of the net.

The German international scored his second goal after Hajime Hosogai brought down Christian Clemens in the box. Podolski stepped to the spot and sent Jentzsch the wrong way to make it 2-0 after only 24 minutes.

Slawomir Peszko put the death nail in the Augsburg coffin in the 56th minute when he intercepted an attempted clearance by Lorenzo Davids and beat Jentzsch.
