Reigning champion Borussia Dortmund saw their four match winning streak come to an end in Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon.
VfB Stuttgart Vs. Borussia Dortmund, 2011 Bundesliga: Piszczek Goal Preserves Draw
Dortmund nearly took the lead after only a few minutes when Robert Lewandowski clanged a shot off of the post. Stuttgart capitalized in the 22nd minute on their own shot hitting the post. Martin Harnik's free kick struck the post, but Serdar Tasci was there to knock the rebound in the goal to give the hosts the 1-0 lead.
Lukasz Piszczek found the goal to bring Dortmund level just before halftime after some nice play from Mario Götze and Shinji Kagawa. Was Kagawa trying to shoot on his assist? He probably was, but they all count the same.
Stuttgart held on in the second half for a deserved draw. There was some desperate defending at times with Kagawa and Götze coming close several times.
The draw sees Dortmund fall to third in the table and five points behind Bayern in the table. They also lost midfielder Sven Bender to a foot injury at halftime. The German international is now a doubt for the Champions League match midweek against Olympiacos.
