Earlier on Monday, it was reported that Fiorentina had requested the resignation of Sinisa Mihajlovic, but that the coach had refused to give it. Apparently the Viola were quite persuasive about Miha's need to leave, as the club has now officially announced that the Serbian has made way for Delio Rossi.
Fiorentina Announce Firing Of Mihajlovic, Appoint Delio Rossi As Manager Of La Viola
Fiorentina currently sit 13th in the table after Sunday's 1-0 loss at Chievo Verona. With just one win in their last seven matches, Rossi certainly has a big task ahead of him: fans of the Viola want positive results, and they want them quickly -- but will the former Palermo coach be the one to provide the points? After all, Rossi, after being fired by Maurizio Zamparini and then brought back after just a month, managed a respectable 8th place, as well as a place in the Coppa Italia final. It's tough to evaluate a manager's performance based on his relationship with Zamparini, after all, but Rossi had a bit of a bipolar time at Lazio and was unable to revive Atalanta.
And so time shall tell...
