Ligue 1, Week 15 Saturday Scores: Marseille And Montpellier Slip Up While PSG Wins

Just when the title race in Ligue 1 was starting to get extremely interesting, the status quo has been restored. After a Saturday of action that saw league leaders Montpellier lose and surging Marseille draw, Paris Saint-Germain is very much back in the driver’s seat, thanks to a win over Marvin Martin and Sochaux.

AS Nancy 2-2 AC Ajaccio

Sometimes relegation six-pointers are fun! Ajaccio had a 2-1 lead heading into stoppage time before Daniel George Niculae struck a late equalizer. Those two dropped points will keep Ajaccio firmly planted at the bottom of the table, six points from safety. It does not reflect well on Nancy’s chances to avoid the drop if they needed a late home equalizer against the team with the worst goal differential in France.

Sochaux 0-1 Paris Saint-Germain

PSG only scored once, again looking like a team that was not totally in sync, but they completely battered Sochaux on the afternoon. The hosts never looked like they had any chance to score. Marvin Martin was substituted out in the 49th minute and there’s no word yet on whether or not he’s picked up any kind of injury. Kevin Gameiro scored the game’s only goal, his ninth of the year, assisted by Javier Pastore.

St. Etienne 2-0 Caen

St. Etienne are only a couple points off a European place after delivering a beating to Caen on Saturday. Livio Nabab was sent off in the 43rd minute for the visitors after they’d already gone down 1-0 on a Banel Nicolita goal, and that effectively ended the game. Bakary Sako scored the clincher in the 73rd minute. Caen did not get a single shot on target in this match.

Stade Rennes 1-1 Brest

Rennes is supposed to be contending for a top-three place. Not a good look, guys.

Toulouse 2-1 Evian

Toulouse’s central midfielders get it done again. Coming soon to an English club near you, say the English tabloids! Moussa Sissoko and Etienne Capoue had fantastic games in a 2-1 win for Toulouse, with the former scoring a goal. The home side controlled the game throughout, but still required a stoppage time winner from striker Umut Bulut, assisted by Capoue.

Valenciennes 1-0 Montpellier

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????? (Montpellier are a staff favorite. No disrespect intended towards Vanenciennes or their fans)

Marseille 0-0 Bordeaux
