Gary Cahill has put Bolton ahead early, finishing a set piece with the help of a Stuart Holden ball and a John Heitenga deflection. Capitalizing on a generously given foul on Victor Anichebe, Bolton has taken a 1-0 lead at the Rebook in the 10th minute.
Bolton Vs. Everton FC: Gary Cahill Heads In Off John Heitenga, Gives Trotters Early Lead
Anichebe was whistled for a foul on Bolton's left flank, a challenge that had commentators questioning whether an infraction should have been called. Thirty yards from goal, Holden lined up a ball that he curled toward the sport. Cahill headed cleanly toward goal, a redirection that sent goalkeeper Tim Howard diving left. However, the shot hit the right side of defender John Heitenga's body and went into the left of goal, giving Howard no chance.
Now in the 13th minute, both teams still appear to be coming into the match. Unfortunately for Everton, that introductory period has included a goal allowed, the Toffees now chasing the Trotters.
