Teal Bunbury did not suffer any broken bones or nerve damage and should be back within 2-4 weeks, according to a Sporting Kansas City spokesperson. That means he should be back in time for SKC's season opener on March 19 against Chivas USA.
Teal Bunbury Injury Update: No Broken Bones, Should Return In 2-4 Weeks
This should be seen as positive news as Bunbury was carted off the field of a preseason match against the Houston Dynamo after suffering what was initially reported as a dislocated elbow. The injury caused the game to be halted for a lengthy period of time and he was taken to the hospital immediately.
Bunbury is expected to play a significant role as SKC tries to return to the MLS Cup playoffs for the first time since 2008, and for just the third time since 2004. Bunbury is coming off a rookie season in which he scored five goals in 26 regular-season matches. This past off-season, he trained with Stoke City and made his United States National Team debut, scoring a goal in his second-ever game representing the Red, White And Blue.
