Despite a vow to do everything in his power to captain Arsenal in this weekend's Carling Cup final against Birmingham City, Cesc Fabregas will miss the match due to a hamstring injury. Arsenal have not won a trophy since winning the FA Cup in 2005 and that drought played a part in the club's pushing for the Carling Cup. Just one win away from securing that trophy, they will have to do it without their captain.
Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas To Miss Carling Cup Final Due To Hamstring Injury
After the match on Tuesday Fabregas sent out multiple tweets saying that he didn’t know if he’d make the match, but that he would do everything in his power to captain Arsenal in a final. Unfortunately for the Gunners and Fabregas, he will not get that chance.
Fabregas has had a recent history of injury woes and a troublesome hamstring has been an issue for the midfielder all year. On Tuesday against Stoke City Fabregas has to be removed from the match after just 15 minutes because of an injury to his hamstring and while the injury isn't expected to keep the Spaniard out for long, it will cost him the chance to play for a trophy.
