Sunderland has been going through a rough patch having dropped three straight matches and only seven minutes into their match with Everton, Jermaine Beckford is doing his best to make it four straight. Beckford had scored three of his four goals this season as a substitute, but his fifth came as a starter and it was an important one as he put the Toffees ahead at home.

The move started when a poor defensive header gifted Leon Osman possession in the attacking half. As soon as possession turned, Beckford made a good run and Osman spotted him, slipping a lovely ball through to the streaking Englishman who dinked the ball over an onrushing Simon Mignolet. The ball deflected off of Titus Bramble before rolling over the goal line, but the ball was always goal bound.
Now, Sunderland will have to chase the match at Goodison Park. With Louis Saha and Beckford running atop the Everton attack the Black Cats could be in a bit of trouble.
