FC Barcelona Vs. Arsenal FC, 2011: Lionel Messi Puts Barca Up 1-0

Lionel Messi has just put Barcelona in front 1-0 on the day and they now lead the tie on away goals, but Arsenal only have themselves to blame for conceding. First, they lost the little forward int he box, but the defenders did enough to put him off and Manual Almunia was able to make the save. With just a couple of minutes of first half injury time left, the visitors were doing well to hold on, but then captain Cesc Fabregas made an inexplicable and inexcusable error.

25 yards from goal, Fabregas attempted to get the ball to Jack Wilshere via a backheel, but his pass only found Andres Iniesta, who was able to hit the ball after a couple of touches to Lionel Messi, who was then faced with the rather simple task of getting past Almunia one on one. Messi elected to juggle the ball over the despairing goalkeeper and then volleyed home emphatically. Advantage very much to Barcelona in a pulsating match. Will Arsenal be able to reply? Based on the way they've played so far, probably not.
