Bayern Munich Increase Offer For Manuel Neuer
Bild is reporting that the Bavarian giants have increased their offer to €18 million base transfer fee with another guaranteed €3 million in bonuses. There is also the potential for an additional €4 million depending on how successful Bayern Munich is in the UEFA Champions League. The two sides reportedly met for over three hours in an attempt to negotiate the transfer. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would admit to Bild that “We had a decent conversation.”

It’s been rumoured that a deal is in the works to take Neuer to Bayern Munich and the Allianz Arena, and that’s only been made stronger by Neuer’s denial of the possbility of a United move. For Ferguson’s part, his supposed interest in Atletico Madrid’s David de Gea as a replacement for the retiring Edwin van der Sar seems a lot more reasonable now.

It’ll be interesting to see whether he does end up at Bayern. Neuer is considered to be one of the finest goalkeepers in the world, and with his contract expiring at the end of the 2011/12 season Schalke will now be obligated to sell him for a comparatively low fee during the summer transfer window.
