Just two days after questioning whether they could come to an agreement with Schalke 04 for the transfer of Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich have reportedly increased their offer for the Germany number one.
Bayern Munich Increase Offer For Manuel Neuer
Bild is reporting that the Bavarian giants have increased their offer to €18 million base transfer fee with another guaranteed €3 million in bonuses. There is also the potential for an additional €4 million depending on how successful Bayern Munich is in the UEFA Champions League. The two sides reportedly met for over three hours in an attempt to negotiate the transfer. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would admit to Bild that “We had a decent conversation.”
In their search for a replacement for Neuer, Schalke are reportedly looking to the number one of the Netherlands. Maarten Stekelenburg could step in immediately between the Schalke goalpost. Stekelenburg's contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of 2012, and the club would likely be looking to cash in on the Dutch netminder.
