There haven't been any goals in the late Saturday match between Napoli and Genoa, but not for lack of trying by both sides. Unfortunately for the teams, the San Paolo today is closer to a slip and slide party hosted by a drunken fraternity than a stadium in which football is meant to be played. The Genoa players enjoy sliding across the sidelines when attempting to remove the ball from the feet of Edinson Cavani, while Marek Hamsik executed a perfect tackle into the surrounding advertising boards. A positive: the Napoli kits feature white shorts. Did you know Hamsik wears blue underbriefs beneath them? Now you do!
Napoli Vs. Genoa: Let’s Play Slip And Slide At The San Paolo
As for the real facts of the match, well, it's tough to report, considering there were many chances that could have easily been goals if it weren't for the ball skipping through an enormous puddle. Juraj Kucka very nearly scored the opener for Genoa, but fortunately the Slovakian remembered he's only meant to do that for his country and skewed the shot off the post. Edinson Cavani had a great opportunity for Napoli, but rather selfishly attempted to take the ball around three defenders rather than laying off for an open Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Napoli have...issues...with winning when manager Walter Mazzarri is forced to remove his glasses. Will this match be any different? Or will the rain manage to be the twelfth man?
