FC Porto Vs. Sporting Braga, 2011 UEFA Europa League Final: 1-0 Halftime

Sporting Braga played FC Porto tough in the first half of the Europa League final, but it was only a matter of time before Porto scored, and they finally did so in the 44th minute. Unsurprisingly, it was Radamel Falcao who scored with a brilliant header, tallying his 17th goal of the season in Europe - extending his own record - and giving Porto a 1-0 lead over Braga at halftime.

After a Braga giveaway in their own half, Fredy Guarin picked up the ball and delivered a fantastic cross into the box. Falcao’s off the ball movement was great as always as he freed himself from his marker and jumped into the air, meeting the ball and putting a great header into the back of the net.

It was actually a bit of an average game before Falcao’s header, but his goal should spice things up considerably. Braga will now be forced to attack instead of playing exclusively on the counter, and this should open up lots of new spaces for the Porto front three to exploit.
