A controversial free kick has led to an equaliser from Athletic Bilbao at the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, and the home fans really aren't very happy about that. Verdu was adjudged to have fouled Susaeta about 22 yards out, receiving a yellow card for his troubles (it's unclear whether he actually did foul him, and the yellow certainly seemed over the top). Anyway, Susaeta got up, brushed himself off, and powered an effort over the wall and straight into the top corner of Idriss Kameni's goal to make it 1-1.
Espanyol Vs. Athletic Bilbao: Susaeta Levels From Free Kick; Espanyol Denied Penalty
Espanyol nearly made an immediate reply with Pablo Osvaldo attempting to punish Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz's mistake, but the striker was brought down by a sliding tackle as he attempted to bring the ball free. An illegal sliding tackle in the penalty box, no less, and that probably should have been a yellow card and a penalty for Espanyol.Nothing was given - the referee isn't really endearing himself to the fans here.
