It's been a half fraught with peril for Gorka Iraizoz's goal and it's finally been breached once more. This time Pablo Osvaldo is the provider after the striker latched onto a bobbling ball cleverly flicked on by substitute Rui Fonte. Osvaldo had it all to do as the ball looked to be trundling out of play, but he was able to control and fire across the face of goal, where Ivan Alonso stormed in to slide the ball home on the stretch. Huge goal for Espanyol.

Athletic Bilbao mounted an immediate response to going behind, but so far have found Idriss Kameni equal to their efforts. Carlos Gurpegui long range shot was tipped over brilliantly by the Cameroonian goalkeeper before a goalmouth scramble was eventually cleared after the following corner. Espanyol won't feel anything like safe until either the full time whistle goes or they get a second, despite deserving to be ahead on the balance of play.
