Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander is expected to move to Turkish giants Galatasaray in the summer transfer window, according to manager Owen Coyle. Elmander, who turns 30 in a week, has had something of a hit and miss season, flourishing in the early going before seeing his contribution rather die down during the mid-late stages, whereupon his goalscoring form was replaced by the arrival of Daniel Sturridge on loan from Chelsea.
Bolton Wanderers Transfer Rumors: Johan Elmander Expected To Move To Galatasaray
At the end of the day, Elmander never really scored enough goals with Bolton to justify his £8.2M record price tag, although he he’s always been underrated for his ability to link up play effectively. However, he did score eleven goals this season, and with Sturridge also expected to return to his parent club in the summer Bolton may be hard pressed to replace their production with the current crop of strikers. That doesn’t mean shipping Elmander out doesn’t make sense - he’s getting up there in age and he the club might as well cash in on him while he still has value - but this almost certainly puts them in the market to buy a forward this summer.
