In a move that will surely horrify Arsenal fans, 23-year-old Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner has requested a summer move away from the Emirates Stadium and will be given the opportunity to leave the club should any team make a sufficiently high bid. Bendtner's father and agent has suggested that the striker is frustrated by the current situation at Arsenal, where he made only three starts in the league last season:
Arsenal FC Transfer Rumors: Nicklas Bendtner Leaving Club
Nicklas has made his decision and told Arsenal: he wants to leave the club. There has not been any change in his situation and so we have told Arsenal that we will search the market for a new club. I can say that there is serious interest from English and German clubs and it is not going to be a problem to find him a good club.
Although Bendtner is widely seen as a figure of fun (his confidence was measured at ten out of a possible nine by Arsenal’s club psychologist despite being generally woeful in front of goal), he’s also been constrained by the fact he rarely gets to play at his favoured position, often being dumped out wide on the left flank to play winger. At this point, a move will probably be a good thing for both player and club, and with a price tag of £9M one would expect more than a few teams will be interested in acquiring him.
