Romelu Lukaku is one of the hottest properties in European football, and the young Belgian international striker is said to have most of the world’s biggest clubs hot on his tail. The leader in the clubhouse for his services now appears to be Chelsea FC, with rumors coming out that a deal could be finalized as early as next week. According to Lukaku, there are multiple English clubs who have shown interest, and the English Premier League would be his preferred destination.

If Lukaku signs with Chelsea, it would probably spell the end for at least one of, if not both of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba. Fernando Torres is clearly at the top of the pecking order right now, despite his average performances, while Lukaku has proven himself as a legitimate forward despite still being a teenager. As he states in the above-linked Guardian article, he would not be a starter right away, but his potential and price tag alone would mean that at least one of Chelsea's strikers would have to be shown the door.
