Internacional Vs. Peñarol, 2011 Copa Libertadores: Halftime, Oscar Goal Has Inter Up

It’s been all Internacional in the first half of their 2011 Copa Libertadores, second leg match against Peñarol. The two teams drew 1-1 in the first leg in Montevideo, but Inter have taken control of the tie, thanks to a goal by Oscar after just 80 seconds. The home team has completely controlled the game independent of that goal, and they’ve hardly given the visitors a sniff.

Oscar’s second minute goal was an absolute beauty, scored from 20 yards out. Picking up the ball around 35 yards away from goal, he did well to dribble away from the defense as he went forward, creating room for a shot. From 20 yards out, he hit an absolute thunderbolt of a strike, and the ball whistled into the back of the net, giving Sebastien Sosa absolutely no chance at a save.

Peñarol have only managed one shot so far, and they appear to be in serious trouble. It was obvious from the starting formations that Inter would have an advantage in the midfield, and that advantage has proven to be a serious problem for the Uruguayans.
