Universidad Catolica Vs. Gremio, 2011 Copa Libertadores: UC Hold Serve, Still Lead 2-1 On Aggregate

It’s been a rather uneventful first half in Santiago, Chile, and Universidad Catolica will like it that way. Though there have been a high volume of shots, none of them from either side have been clear cut scoring opportunities, and as a result, the second leg of the 2011 Copa Libertadores tie between UC and Gremio is tied up 0-0 at halftime.

UC won 2-1 in the first leg on the road, so they’re very much in the driver’s seat for this match and no one can fault them if they are, in fact, playing for a tie. Gremio don’t look like they have two goals in them, but after the first game of the night between Internacional and Peñarol, don’t count them out. That game was a reminder that anything can happen in Copa Libertadores, and that it’s truly a betting man’s nightmare. Gremio will likely have to throw caution to the wind to have a chance to advance.
