St. Pauli Vs. Bayern Munich: Bavarians Lead 2-0 At Halftime

Bayern Munich are inching closer to securing Champions League football, while St. Pauli are going in the opposite direction. A miraculous second half comeback could be in the cards, but at this point, it looks like the visitors have a stranglehold in third place in the Bundesliga while the hosts are headed down to the second division. After 45 minutes, Bayern lead by a score of 2-0, and they are very much in control of the match.

The first goal was a gift, and Bayern have St. Pauli goalkeeper Thomas Kessler to thank. In the 10th minute, him and his defense miscommunicated, then he misjudged the ball, the mishandled it, in a spectacular sequence of mistakes. This eventually led to the ball falling to the feed of Mario Gomez, who finished easily, bringing himself closer to Germany’s Golden Boot. Daniel van Buyten added the second goal in the 32nd minute, heading in an Arjen Robben corner kick.
