When you draw up a list of the best central midfielders in the world who don’t play for Barcelona, Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger’s name comes in near the top. The German international might not be plying his trade in the Bundesliga for much longer, however.
AC Milan Transfer Rumors: Bastian Schweinsteiger Subject Of Impending Formal Bid
According to Corriere Dello Sport, AC Milan are on the verge of entering a formal bid for Schweinsteiger's services, believed to be in the area of €35M. Whether that figure could possibly pry the midfielder away from Bayern remains to be seen - he's probably worth more than that on talent alone and recently signed a long-term deal with the club, keeping him at Munich until 2016 at a fairly monstrous salary.
Would Bayern be keen to get rid of Schweinsteiger, even after a disappointing season? I wouldn't count on that. Milan will probably have to pay far more than a relatively measly €35M to bring him in.
