Jerome Boateng left the Bundesliga last summer, but it doesn't sound like he's much longer for the Premier League, having found himself blocked at centre back by Vincent Kompany, shunted to an unfavourable position in right back, and then blocked there by Micah Richards. It's enough to make a boy pine for his homeland, and that's apparently exactly what he's doing in attempting to engineer a deal with Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich Transfer Rumors: Jerome Boateng Apparently Agrees Deal With Bayern
It is true that I have agreed with Bayern on a four-year deal. Now it is up to [Manchester City] to make it work. At the moment they are making things a bit difficult.
My dream is to have a starting spot within a year, hopefully at Bayern, and then I want to win the European championship. It is about the position. Bayern want me as a central defender. That is also an advantage for the national team.
Munich, of course, would be a better fit for Boateng than Manchester City would be, but it's a little unclear as to just how he has agreed a deal with Bayern if City won''t agree to anything. It's a weird story, but something to keep an eye on. One wonders just how this will all turn out, but it would be a big surprise if Boateng started next season with Roberto Mancini, David Silva et al.
