A 41st minute goal from Andres Mendoza and 75th minute strike from Bernardo Anor gave the Columbus Crew a huge three points on the road against the Houston Dynamo.
Houston Dynamo Vs. Columbus Crew: Crew Get A Huge Win In Houston
It was not a good night for Houston as they failed to get anything going offensively and played most of the second half a man down after midfielder Lovel Palmer was ejected in the 53rd minute for his second yellow card of the match. Houston looked better after the ejection, the Crew were able to sit back and absorb all the Dynamo's pressure and get a late goal to secure the full three points.
Columbus defender better, passed better and finished their chances better and any other result would have been unfair to the Crew. It’s a dream result for Columbus and allows them to take a firm hold on third place in the Eastern Conference. Considering the tough results in their past couple matches and the apparent strife between players and coaches, the Crew are no doubt feeling good about themselves tonight.
The Dynamo lose ground in the playoff race as their struggles to win matches at home in Robertson Stadium continue. Let's be honest, this Dynamo team just isn't that good. There entire night was summed up in stoppage time when Brian Ching missed any empty net...yes, it's that bad right now.
