Amid all the debate around the Gold Cup roster selections, one player who didn't seem to get mentioned as a major snub as much as he deserved to be was FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea. Possessing a rare combination of speed, athleticism and size, he seems to also be coming into his own as a complete player. On Saturday, he scored his sixth goal of the season -- and fourth in his past seven -- as the Toros beat Chivas USA 2-1.
Chivas USA Vs. FC Dallas: Brek Shea Continues To Impress
Shea's goal, which gave FCD a 1-0 lead, was particularly impressive. He took a pass at the edge of the penalty area and was able to take a shot between two defenders on the first touch. His shot rocketed past Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.
The win continues a run that has seen the Toros drop just one of their past 11 matches. During that run they have won seven.
The loss was the Goats' second straight. After falling behind early, they were able to equalize on a goal by Michael Lahoud that deflected off FCD defender George John in the 71st minute. But the Toros were able to capitalize on a Chivas mistake, resulting in a Jackson Goncalves goal in the 85th minute.
