Some strange words from Arsenal's Samir Nasri have caused a bit of a stir. The 23-year-old French winger was one of the Premier League's top performers int he first half of the season and with just a year left on his current contract Arsenal have been looking to sign him up to a contract extension. Not so fast says Sami:
Arsenal FC Transfer Rumors: Sami Nasri Refuses To Commit To Club
I don’t know if I will sign a new contract. Anyway, the discussions are ongoing. For the moment, I don’t think about this. We will speak about it after the match with Poland. Do I want to go to Man United? First, we should see if it’s real and if it is concrete.
If Nasri doesn’t sign a long-term deal (and fairly soon), Arsenal will probably be forced to sell him now or risk seeing him leave on a Bosman free transfer come the end of the 2011/12 season. Nasri is presumably holding out for a better offer, but considering the stark dip in form towards the end of last year, it’s not entirely clear that Arsenal should give him one. It’s an interesting dilemma for Arsene Wenger et. al though.
Manchester United are one of the teams who'd be interested in Nasri's services, should he hit the market, and there'd presumably be a place open for him at Chelsea as well.
