Manchester United have made Samir Nasri their top target, according to Sky Sports News.
Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Samir Nasri A Top Target
In what would be a highly controversial move, the French midfielder is allegedly open to the idea of a move to Manchester, and could force the issue with only a year remaining on his contract. And now United are allegedly determined to land their man.
With United in need of midfield creativity and also in the market for an additional wide player, Nasri would represent a good fit for the United squad. Although wages are one of the reasons that his contract negotiations with Arsenal have stalled, United shouldn't find his salary a problem with so many players expected to leave the club this summer.
It would not be the first time Sir Alex Ferguson has frustrated his old foe Arsene Wenger in the transfer market in recent times. After beating the Frenchman to the signing of Blackburn Rovers' Phil Jones, Ferguson now plans to make a devastating swoop for one of his rivals' star players, in a move that could have significant ramifications for the rest of the Arsenal squad.
Of course, interest does not imply that a deal will be concluded - Wenger has recently insisted that the midfielder will under no circumstances be sold to United - but there does appear to be substance behind the story, rather than just a contract negotiation ploy.
