Sunderland have already signed 18-year-old Connor Wickham and 20-year-old Ji Dong-Won to be the future of the club and support star striker Asamoah Gyan in the present, but there are rumors indicating that Steve Bruce isn't quite done adding to his team up top. With those three one would think Bruce might be content with his striking options, but reports are currently linking Sunderland to a move for VFB Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.
Sunderland Transfer Rumors: Black Cats After Stuttgart Striker Pavel Pogrebnyak?
Pogrebnyak, 27 years old, had a fantastic scoring record in his time with Zenit St. Petersburg in the Russian Premier League. However, since moving to the Bundesliga, Pogrebnyak has struggled to replicate that form. If Stuttgart, a big club who barely stayed in the Bundesliga last season, have lost their patience with Pogrebnyak, they might be willing to sell him for a cut-rate price just to get him out of the locker room and his wages off the books. Pogrebnyak got off to a hot start last season, but completely fell off in the second half of the season.
