With Ashley Young having already departed for Manchester United and Stewart Downing linked to Liverpool, Aston Villa could seriously use some reinforcements who can provide some quality out wide. Downing could still be a Villa player next year while youngster Mark Albrighton should contribute quite a bit next season, but those two facts apparently aren't stopping Villa from pursuing Wigan Athletic left winger Charles N'Zogbia, who has been linked to just about every half-decent team in the world who are in need of a wide player.

N’Zogbia is in the final year of his contract at Wigan and he was arguably the most important outfield player to the Latics in the last couple of seasons. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has said in the past that they will let N’Zogbia go if they receive a suitable offer, but who really knows what constitutes a suitable offer. In any event, after selling Young, Villa are probably in a position to make one.
