Leave it to the Los Angeles Galaxy's newest signing to do the tough work in the CONCACAF Champions League for MLS' top club. The Galaxy had the better chances for most of the match, but they didn't make anything of them. Finally, Robbie Keane did the job with a fantastic goal that has put LA on top of Monarcas Morelia down in Mexico.
Monarcas Morelia Vs. LA Galaxy, CONCACAF Champions League: Robbie Keane’s Beauty Puts LA Up 1-0
Keane gathered a long ball that was played in from the left and got it 18 yards from goal at the corner of the box. With just one defender there, he pushed the ball past the defender, ran onto it and smashed it home for the go-ahead goal. It was a good goal, showing off the skill that made him one of the Premier League’s top goal scorers and also the type of finishing that the Galaxy have lacked from their strikers for much of the season.
Now that the Galaxy are up a goal, they will have to figure out a way to see the match out. Morelia will undoubtedly bring pressure in search of an equalizer and LA is playing without Juninho and David Beckham, who settle the midfield for them. This one will surely get interesting soon.
