Manchester United Vs. Chelsea Live, 2011 Premier League: Fernando Torres Goes Wide

Somehow, someday, Fernando Torres will score a big goal in a big English Premier League match. He's been a major disappointment since arriving at Chelsea, with his only goal coming last April against West Ham United. He provided two great assists in mid-week against Bayer Leverkusen, giving everyone some hope that he can break his slump, but he's missed another good opportunity that could have equalized for the Blues against Manchester United.

Getting the better of his marker, Torres appeared to have a clear look at a shot at the far post from 12 yards out in the 13th minute, but the Spaniard scuffed his shot, hitting a soft one wide of the post. Two years ago, he would have absolutely buried that. The trials and tribulations of Nando continue.

Head on over to Manchester United blog The Busby Babe and Chelsea FC blog We Ain’t Got No History for more on the two teams and this match.
