Well now, that should have been the equalizer! David De Gea has made an absolutely brilliant save in the 26th minute to keep Manchester United ahead of Chelsea 1-0. The Blues have looked in the ascendancy since shortly after the Chris Smalling goal, but they're still trailing due to a combination of poor finishing and outstanding goalkeeping.
Manchester United Vs. Chelsea Live, 2011 Premier League: David De Gea Makes Stunning Save On Ramires
Juan Mata started the real dangerous part of Chelsea's stellar move, playing a great through ball down the left for Fernando Torres to run onto. Torres put a great ball across the face of goal for Ramires and Daniel Sturridge, who both ran into the box, onside and completely unmarked. Ramires was the one who got to the ball first and took the shot with the entire goal at his mercy, but De Gea somehow managed to get across to the ball and tip it away from the goal.
Ramires had all the time and room in the world and probably should have finished regardless of De Gea’s stunning reaction and great positioning, but there’s no discrediting the Spanish keeper. His save was absolutely fantastic.
