Inter Milan didn't make it easy on themselves in the debut of Claudio Ranieri as manager, but they pulled themselves together and earned a hard-fought win in the closing minutes, eventually defeating relegation candidates Bologna 3-1. The team struggled to create without Wesley Sneijder in the site, but had enough quality to find three goals by the end of the afternoon.

Giampaolo Pazzini scored the opener in the 39th minute, assisted by Esteban Cambiasso, and it appeared that Inter were going to sit on that small lead for the remainder of the match. Former West Ham United and Brescia man Alessandro Diamanti stepped up and converted, giving his side an equalizer after an impressive first 20 minutes of the first half.
Eventually, Inter stepped on the gas and found the goal they needed to grab all three points. Diego Milito drew a foul in the penalty area in the 81st minute, and Archimede Morleo was sent off for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. Milito stepped up and converted the penalty, putting Inter up for good. In the 87th minute they would add another, as Lucio headed in a cross from Sulley Muntari on a set piece, making the final score 3-1.
