Previous reports about the deal suggested that David Beckham would be allowed to remain with the LA Galaxy as long as he wants to play.
LA Galaxy Re-Sign David Beckham To Two-Year Contract
Although Beckham’s tenure with the Galaxy has not been entirely without incident, it’s hard to see it as anything but successful. The Galaxy became just the second MLS team since 2003 to win the Supporters’ Shield and the MLS Cup in the same season this year. That was the second time the Galaxy had been to the MLS Cup since Beckham signed in 2006. It was also the second straight year the Galaxy had won the Supporters’ Shield.
“This was an important decision for me,” Galaxy midfielder David Beckham said in a team release. “I had many offers from clubs from around the world, however, I’m still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”

Beckham’s return seemed to be in serious doubt as recently as a few weeks ago when numerous French publications reported that he has signed with Paris Saint-Germain. He was reportedly offered about $18 million to move to France.
