FC Porto Hop On The Transfer Window Crazy Train

FC Porto are making good use of the transfer window, signing Lucho Gonzalez and Marc Janko while offloading midfielders Fernando Belluschi and Freddy Guarin.

Has this transfer window been too boring for you? Not much going on? Well, FC Porto understand your pain and are here to help make things a little more interesting - they the defending Primeira League champions are heavily involved with pretty much everything going on right now. Here’s what they’ve done/are supposed to be doing today.

  • Signing Argentinian playmaker Lucho Gonzalez from Marseilles. Details are as yet unclear.
  • Signing 28-year-old striker Marc Janko - who has scored more than a goal every two games in the Eredivisie - from Twente for a fee believed to be around €5.5M.
  • Sold Fernando Belluschi, who’s made 63 league appearances with the club to Genoa for an undisclosed sum.
  • Appear to be on the verge of selling Colombian midfielder Freddy Guarin to Inter Milan, again for an undisclosed sum.

This is what happens when they lose a game, I guess. With summer signing Kleber failing to pan out so far, Porto have never really replaced Radamel Falcao, who went to Atletico Madrid in summer, so the Janko move should allow them to stop playing around with Hulk as a centre forward and push him back wide right, while Belluschi and Guarin were squad players who are being further displaced by the arrival of Lucho Gonzalez.
