Bayern Munich vs. Hannover: Final score 5-0, Gomez scores a goal on his return in route

Bayern Munich thrashed Hannover 5-0 to re-establish their lead atop the Bundesliga table.

Bayern Munich re-established a nine point lead atop the Bundesliga with a massive 5-0 victory over Hannover at the Allianz Arena.

Javi Martinez got the scoring started in the third minute with an excellent bicycle kick to put Bayern up 1-0. Bayern doubled their lead after 24th minute when Toni Kroos volleyed a Philipp Lahm cross past Ron-Robert Zieler. It was 3-0 after 37 minutes. Thomas Müller passed the ball the Franck Ribery, and the French winger scored a nice goal.

It was much of the same in the second half as Dante headed a Kroos free kick toward the goal. Zieler was able to get his hands to it, but he was unable to keep the ball out of the net.

Mario Gomez made his first Bundesliga appearance of the season a few minutes later coming on as a substitute for Mario Mandzukic. Thirty seconds later the German international was celebrating his first goal of the season. Kroos sent a ball over the top, and Gomez ran onto it. He out-muscled Karim Haggui and shot past Zieler for the 5-0 lead.

The three points take Bayern to 34 points out of 13 games. They now sit 9 points ahead of second place Borussia Dortmund. Hannover fall to 7th place in the table and see their positive goal differential completely wiped out.
