Swansea City vs. Manchester United: Final score 1-1, Michu scores 13th of the season

Michu scored his 13th goal of the season as Swansea stole a point from Manchester United.

With a draw against Swansea on Saturday, Manchester United have allowed their main title rivals, Manchester City, to pull back within four points of the league lead. The Red Devils got off to a brilliant start and controlled the match for the opening 20 minutes, but a David De Gea error led to a Michu equalizer, and they were unable to score again in a 1-1 stalemate.

Patrice Evra netted the opener with a stellar header, directed beautifully to the back post from a corner by Robin van Persie in the 16th minute. Things turned quickly after that, with Swansea getting onto the front foot, and their aggression paid off with a 27th minute equalizer. Jonathan De Guzman took the initial shot from a narrow angle, which De Gea saved, but he parried the ball directly into the path of Michu. The Spaniard finished comfortably, netting his league-leading 13th goal of the year.

While Man United had the better of the play in the second half, both teams had plenty of half-chances and the match could have gone either way. Wayne Rooney had a bit of a rough match, and was sarcastically cheered by Swansea's supporters when he was substituted for Ryan Giggs. United's best chance of the second half came on a header by Michael Carrick, but Michel Vorm made one of his six saves on the day, tipping the ball onto the crossbar.
