Bolton Clash With Aston Villa Postponed After Muamba Incident

It was announced today that Tuesday's clash between Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers at Villa Park has been postponed while the footballing world comes to terms with the incident involving Fabrice Muamba at White Hart Lane last night.

A short statement from The Trotters official site read;

Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Tuesday evening’s Barclays Premier League fixture has been postponed, following talks with Aston Villa and the Premier League. The Club would like to thank Aston Villa and the Premier League for their kind support and understanding at this time. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish spoke about his own dealings with Muamba and wished him well in his recovery in Aston Villa’s statement on the postponement;

I have worked with Fabrice as a player at Birmingham and he has always been a terrific lad, nothing other than the perfect professional. My heart goes out to his family and it is overwhelming to think what they are going through right now.

Whilst Villa captain Stilyan Petrov had this to say of his fellow professional in the same statement;

To everyone at Bolton - players, staff, supporters - we stand with you in what you are going through and most of all we hope that Fabrice can come through this ordeal and that the prayers of everybody are answered.

Cardiologists on TV and radio stated that the next 48 to 72 hours would be critical for Muamba, and trying to prepare for an important game in Bolton’s battle to avoid relegation with this hanging over their heads would be nigh on impossible.
