Premier League Week 29: Wednesday Wrap

Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Stoke City

Tottenham have been impotent of late and it was more of the same against Stoke City. The hosts were dominant in possession, but had all the penetration of a wet paper bag, and their habit of completely ignoring the whole concept of 'set pieces' came back to bite them in the bottom when Cameron Jerome latched onto a Robert Huth flick to give the visitors the lead in the 75th minute. Rafael van der Vaart rescued a point with a last-gasp equaliser, but it couldn't mask the fact that Spurs' slump continues.

Everton Vs. Arsenal

Arsenal have gone on an astonishing run in recent weeks, and although Everton have been virtually unbeatable at Goodison Park they were no match for the Gunners. Ish. Thomas Vermaelen got the visitors on the scoresheet with a neat header from a corner kick, and Everton were subsequently thoroughly screwed out of a goal when Royston Drenthe was pulled back for an imaginary offside. The Toffees couldn't overcome the deficit, and Arsenal surge into third place with a 1-0 win.

Queens Park Rangers Vs. Liverpool

Liverpool looked as though they had this match well in hand after a sublime first goal by young defender Sebastian Coates was added onto by Dirk Kuyt's close range finish in the 72nd minute. And then the meltdown happened. Shaun Derry got the QPR party started with a header from a corner with thirteen minutes to go, and Djibril Cisse equalised - again from a set piece - ten minutes later. The icing on the cake was Jamie Mackie's injury time winner after an error from Jose Enrique to make it 3-2 to QPR. Goodness.
