Manchester City Vs. Chelsea, 2012 Premier League: Final Score, Citizens Snatch Late Winner

Manchester City went down in the second half, but fought back to keep themselves in the Premier League title race with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Eastlands. Their perfect home record appeared to be in serious jeopardy until a pair of unlikely heroes rescued the victory. Carlos Tevez came off the bench to set up the winner for the generally disappointing Samir Nasri.

Gary Cahill opened the scoring in the 60th minute with a surprising set piece goal that came out of absolutely nothing. After City appeared to clear a corner away, Chelsea regained possession and sent the ball back in. Cahill got on the end of the ball and hit a shot that deflected off Yaya Toure and went into the back of the net, giving Joe Hart no chance to make the save.

Chelsea were understandably defensive after that and City appeared to lack ideas regarding how to break them down, but they were gifted an equalizer in the 78th minute. A penalty was given against Michael Essien, who handled the ball in the box and had no complaints about the call. Sergio Aguero stepped up and converted to equalize.

The winner came in the 85th minute, and it was a beautiful one. Tevez came on to a mix of cheers and boos, but he probably won back the support of a good chunk of those who booed him with a great first touch, then pass behind him into the penalty area for Nasri to run onto. He finished calmly past Cech, finishing off a brilliant team goal and completing a massive comeback win.
