New England Revolution Vs. Houston Dynamo, 2012 MLS: Saer Sene’s Brace Wins It

The Houston Dynamo will hurry their way back home, but at least they'll do it with a point. After a brutal road trip to start the season, Houston got to go back home for their first home game last weekend, but they were back on the road on Saturday and it did not treat them kindly. The Dynamo had no answer for Saer Sene and probably shouldn't have gotten a point, but they did. Sene's brace got the New England Revolution to a 2-1 lead, but the Dynamo came back with a late goal to earn a 2-2 draw.

Sene got the Revs going in the 25th minute when Tally Hall could only punch a cross to the penalty spot, where Sene was waiting. The Frenchman was then bowled over, leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Sene took the penalty and easily slotted it past Hall, putting the Revs on top.

Houston did have an answer for Sene, kind of. They at least had a goal of their own in them six minutes later when Brad Davis' free kick was predictably excellent. It left Matt Reis undecided whether to come out and collect it and, when he finally did decide to come out, he was too late. Will Bruin got their first to nod home the equalizer.

The second half brought more chances for both sides, but Sene was the first man who could break through. An awful giveaway by Geoff Cameron in the middle of the pitch allowed Sene to break the other way. He took it all the way to the edge of the six-yard box before firing near post, which fooled Hall and put New England in front.

Luiz Camargo had an answer, though. He connected with Brian Ching on a nifty one-two in the 87th minute and slotted home his first ever MLS goal at the perfect time to salvage a point for Houston, who will be happy to head home for next weekend.
