DC United Vs. Toronto FC, 2012 MLS: Poor, Poor TFC

Toronto FC are still without a point in MLS play and there isn't any indication that things will get better for them anytime soon. First their losing was surprising, then it was funny, and now it's just incredibly sad. On a more positive note, D.C. United have further opened up the gap between them and the non-playoff spots with a 3-1 home win.

Dwayne De Rosario put United up 1-0 in the first minute with a brilliant header. Adrian Cann took down Hamidi Salihi on the left wing, 35 yards from goal, to set up the opportunity. Branko Boskovic provided the assist, hitting a great in-swinging cross that De Rosario ran onto before hitting a perfect header into the net.

They doubled their lead just before halftime, and Toronto's defending was absolutely atrocious on the goal. Josh Wolff started the move with a great ball down the right flank for Chris Korb, who played a low ball across the face of goal. Inexplicably, there wasn't a single defender who even made an effort to track De Rosario, and he was left unmarked to tap in his second goal.

Danny Kovermans hauled one back in the 71st minute to seemingly get TFC back into the match, but they were out of it again just two minutes later. Andy Najar set up Salihi for DC's third goal with a brilliant dribbling move through multiple defenders and a pass that set up a simple finish to seal the win for the Black and Red.
