Apparently nobody really wants to be the best team in MLS. It was supposed to be L.A., but they're a mess. Then it was going to be Salt Lake, but they struggled. Kansas City was the next up, but they're winless in the last month. The Seattle Sounders were then pegged to be best team 4.0, but they lost 2-0 to the Columbus Crew Wednesday night and now they have failed to win their last three matches.

It took 15 minutes for Columbus to go in front and it was a pretty goal to boot. Dilly Duka hit a gorgeous cross from the right that put the Seattle's defense is a bad spot. Justin Meram slipped in behind the defense and nodded Duka's cross past Bryan Meredith for his third goal in as many matches.
Seattle came back and had some chances, but they struggled to hit the frame. Eddie Johnson wasn't able to steer one of his chances on goal and Alvaro Fernandez missed a wide-open header as the Sounders struggled to just get a shot on goal. When they finally did hit the frame, Andy Gruenebaum was there to deny the Sounders with a few fine saves.
With the Sounders unable to put the ball in the net, the Crew were cruising along and, in the second half, Emilio Renteria was there to put the match away. The striker caught Meredith off his line and hit a great volley that got over the goalkeeper's head before dipping below the bar to send the Sounders to another loss.
