If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. That’s the message coming out of Rome, as Lazio have enjoyed their best start to a season in 40 years. However, Genoa did the double over Lazio last season, and handed the Biancocelesti their first loss at a similar stage last September.

Despite Genoa losing two of their opening three games in this campaign, Lazio will need to guard against complacency. Vladimir Petkovic has resisted making wholesale changes to a thus far winning formula, but with games coming thick and fast, the Bosnian may have to sacrifice rhythm for freshness.
With an abundance of attackers currently kicking their heels on the sidelines, veteran striker Miroslav Klose could sit this one out in order to preserve his ageing legs for Wednesday’s encounter at Napoli. Mauro Zarate, used as a brief substitute at White Hart Lane, could come in for his first domestic start since returning to the Eternal City from his loan spell at Inter.
Abdoulay Konko remains on the sidelines with Stefan Radu, so Pedro Cavanda should continue to deputise. In contrast, after much chopping and changing personnel wise, Genoa coach Gigi De Canio seems to have finally settled on pairing Ciro Immobile up front with Marco Borriello. Immobile got on the scoresheet last week against parent club Juventus, while Borriello should hold no fear, or lack motivation at lining up against Lazio, considering his history as a Roma player.
The Grifone will be without Marco Rossi and Juan Vargas, but Andreas Granqvist, who very nearly joined Lazio over the summer, could return to the backline.
